We asked the team at HiFX for their thoughts on the current market situation and here’s their Market Commentary as of 19/03/14.
“A reasonably quiet week so far for GBP is about to turn very loud today with unemployment data, the budget announcement and Bank of England minutes all due out.
As we speak unemployment data has just come in, staying at 7.2% with a fall in unemployment of 63,000. Bank of England minutes due out shortly and the market seems to be hoping for more hawkish comments coming from the MPC on the state of the economy so we could see movement if this expectation does or doesn’t appear.
The budget is due to start at 12.30 today. As far as budgets go this one seems to have stayed relatively secret and so we may see the odd surprise but see below for a summary of expected headlines:
