Festival of San Anton – The Patron Saint of the Animal Kingdom…

Yesterday was the the festival of San Anton, the patron saint of the animal kingdom. Every year on the Sunday closet to the 17th of January, people gather at their local churches to have their animals blessed. It is believed that by having the animals blessed it will ensure the animals’ good health for the year ahead and they will receive the additional protection of the saint.
This Sunday the 20th we will be taking our beloved poodles to be blessed at Benijofar church (Midday onwards). Pervious years have seen animals of all types, donkeys, dogs, cats, horses, birds, fish to name a few.
If you are in the area and want to bring your pets to the church, we will be meeting just before 12.00 at the church in Benijofar (Sunday The 20th of January).
