Hot off the press

House sales in Spain on the increase..........sales were up by 18.7 percent compared to February 2009

House sales in Spain jumped by 18.7% in the month of February, thanks to a 23.7% increase in the sale of resale property, while new property saw a 14.4% increase in sale numbers compared to February 2009.

The numbers come from the National Statistics Institute, and show the largest jump since the data was first assembled in 2008. 51,343 properties changed hands in February this year.

It is thought the forthcoming VAT/IVA increase in July 1 is thought to be stimulating people to buy again after 2009 saw a 25% fall in sales compared to 2008.
